retinitis pigmentosa

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri May 10, 2002 3:00 pm

First of all, this starts with my mother in law who was diagnosed with rp in her 30's. She has four children one of which is my spouse. We now have a child. I was wondering since there are no other people in her family who have had this (that we know of), what are the chances that my spouse will inherit this disease and my children?

I think this is explained pretty well under retintis pigmentosa section. Most people show signs in their twenties. Your husband should have a dilated eye exam to determine what his retinas look like.
