Help and advice on the next steps of FIP neededHi
Just yesterday we were told our kitten marley has got FIP of the dry type, obviously my partner and i are heartbroken and the kittens (marley and socks) are only about 15 weeks old and we took them in for thier first Vaccinations and marley had a reaction to the vaccine which brought out the virus and therefore put him on a ticking clock :( While we are concearned for marley another concearn we have is for his brother Socks who may also have the virus but it has just been dormant in his system, my main concearn about this is we have been told we can bring marley home tonight while we decide the next steps on his wellbeing but i am worried socks may contract the virus from his brother through say saliva or fecease or it may bring out the virus he already has caught from his mother or the shelter we got them from and obviously we do not want one ill kitten nevermind two !!! Lastly we are left with a decision on Marley to bring him home and risk Socks getting ill also or consider euthenasia as we are trying to be as fair to the kitten as possible, but we dont think he has had a chance at life yet and at least want to make his last few days-weeks-- months the best we can for him as we have tried our best to be good parents but we dont want mayley to suffer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated or if anyone has been in a similar boat i would be happy to hear how you went about dealing with this horrible virus, thanks Liam
Re: Help and advice on the next steps of FIP neededHi
I don't know whether I have any advice, but I am in a very similar situation...my cat, had what the vet thought, a tumor removed last week...only to find out yesterday that it was a granuloma caused by dry FIP...he is recovering from the operation well, but don't know how long we have left with him and as I have another cat, his litter-mate, I too am worried now that she too will have caught the disease. This is an awful time and all I can say is I know how you are feeling....
Re: Help and advice on the next steps of FIP neededAs this post is kind of old, I don't know if you'll still be checking in. My kitten is close to being diagnosed with FIP and we'll have the results in the next few hours. I hope Marley is still with you and I will post again in the next day or so once we speak to the vet to find out all of the information we can.
