Ankle FractureI fell on the ice back in early January 2009 and fractured my left ankle (malleus break - injury to tibula and fibula). I had surgery the same evening it happened. I fear I am healing too slowly and that the injury will be closer to taking 4 months or longer before I can really do anything without the cast and crutches. Everyone ...Read the full article
Re: Ankle FractureKeep the faith--I broke my ankle February 8th. It was a severe break to both sides of my ankle and I have plates and 13 screws. Just to let you know--my time frame is that I am now walking with a cane. Make sure you have a competent physical therapist. When I went for my six week check-up my doctor had a canary and told me I was very behind and I switched therapists. The exercises are very important and you should try to do them frequently. Although I didn't tear a ligament, I am really suffering and have to take something everyday--pain killers/ aspirin/tylenol/alleve --whatever. Also, if you don't already have them--buy the special icepacks and after exercise--ice.
Hope you feel better--you are not alone--in fact--when I was in the hospital they told me that three other ladies in their 50's had the exact same injury --by the way I also fell on ice like you. Good Luck!
Re: Ankle FractureThank you for sharing your accident.
I broke my ankle in 3 places in early September. I also have screws and a metal plate. Currently I’m utilizing crutches. With hopes my next Doctors visit will take me to the next stage. I hope you feel better soon Thank you for sharing
