I fractured my ankle and fibula after a fall 4 years ago. I was hospitalized and underwent surgery for internal fixation, spent 3 months on crutches non weight bearing followed by physiotherapy once a week for 12 months. I still suffer chronic pain in the leg and ankle joint but have been told that the current x-rays show that the ankle is ‘holding up’ whatever that means! They refused my request to have the metal removed as I am 60 .
